Vikkstar123’s Streaming + Gaming Setup

Vikkstar123, one of the largest gaming variety YouTubers and a founding member of the FIFA YouTuber group ‘The Sidemen’, is one of the hardest working content creators in the game, putting out a ridiculous amount of videos every day to his multiple YouTube channels. Because of this, he needs a setup that can keep up with this workload.

Gaming PC

Custom “Sidemen x PCSpecialist” Build

In collaboration with PCSpecialist, The Sidemen have released a line of custom gaming PCs featuring their logo and top of the line gaming hardware powerful enough for both gaming and video production. Featuring an Intel Core i7-7700K (4.2GHz ), 32GB HyperX 3000MHz DDR4 RAM, and a 12GB NVIDIA GeForce Titan X, not only are you set for anything coming out right now but also for a good while in the future too. With a 4TB HDD and a 1TB SSD, you’re safe with enough space for recording and editing, while also being able to run any game you want off the build’s SSD, which is one of the largest you can buy at a reasonable price.

Acer Predator XB271HK 27-inch IPS UHD Widescreen Display

Quite easily the coolest looking gaming monitor on the market, the Acer Predator also has the stats to back up it’s badass look with an IPS panel and 3840 x 2160 UHD resolution. Though it’s not the best when it comes to refresh rate (60Hz) or response rate (4ms, still very fast), it makes up for it in being a purely brilliant display thanks to the IPS UHD panel. Not only are you seeing the most vivid colors, but you’re also treated to the UHD pixel density, which is a nice treat for gaming. You can connect via HDMI (v1.4) or Display Port (v1.2), so there’s enough options to suit your needs no matter what rig you have.

Acer S241HL BMID 24-Inch Widescreen LCD Monitor

If you’re on a budget, Vikkstar123’s second monitor might be a better choice. Still running at 1920 x 1080, this slim LED monitor is an excellent choice for an entry-level gaming monitor, especially if you’re tight on space. With a 5ms response rate, it’s plenty fast for both casual and competitive gaming. It also features plenty of connectivity options, including 1 x VGA, 1 x DVI (w/HDCP), 1 x HDMI. An excellent option.

Vlogging Camera

Canon G7 X Mark 2 Camera

The successor to one of the most popular vlogging cameras of the last decade, the Canon G7 X Mark 2 has everything you’ve ever dreamed of in a travel camera in the portability of a classic point-and-shoot. Best of all, the G7 X MK2 has a massive 20.1 Megapixel CMOS sensor that lets a ridiculous amount of light in, creating beautiful photos and videos perfect for lifestyle capture. There’s also exceptional image stabilization, which is extremely valuable due to the fixed lens nature of the camera, so there’s no way to add it on through lens upgrades down the road. Learning from Sony’s line of mirrorless cameras, there’s also wireless transfer to your mobile device for quick edits and uploads, which can be especially useful as it cuts down the need to have a computer around to post to YouTube. If you’re trying to get into vlogging, it’s just simply the best there is.

Microphone, Keyboard, Mouse, Headphones

Rode Podcaster

A relatively new addition to the streaming scene, Rode, who gained popularity with high-quality but reasonably priced microphones in the vlogging scene, makes their streaming debut with the Podcaster. Vikkstar rocks the Rode Podcaster in all white, allowing for high-quality sound on a budget. The Podcaster interfaces with the computer via USB, so no external mixer is needed, making it plug-and-play easy. Definitely recommended if you don’t yet have a high-quality microphone for streaming or recording videos.

Razer Deathstalker Keyboard

The Razer Deathstalker isn’t like what most other gamers use, rather than use a mechanical keyboard, Vikkstar123 uses chiclet-style keycaps that allow for shorter keystrokes. Though not as accurate as mechanical keyboard, the quick speed at which they can be actuated allow for faster presses and a much slimmer overall profile. The green backlit keyboard offers a sleek look that meshes well with a gamer’s setup.

Razer Taipan

Though extremely basic in design, the Razer Taipan is a solid gaming mouse at an affordable price. It’s nothing crazy, but it’s sleek, ambidextrous design is perfectly suited to both gaming and content creation; and the braided cable ensures it’ll stand the test of time.

Beyerdynamic DT 990 Premium HiFi headphones

Vikkstar123 keeps it fresh with the Beyerdynamic DT 990 Premium HiFi Headphones, featuring velour ear-pads and a leather headband; these are built for comfort. Though they aren’t your traditional gaming headset, like the Astro A40s or Turtle Beach, the DT990 is a solid headset with superior sound thanks to the 32 ohm system. Just remember, most importantly: they’re comfortable and they look cool.

Capture Card

Elgato HD60S

In order to capture console gameplay, Vikkstar utilizes the Elgato HD60S, which allows for 1080p/60 capture without putting too much of a burden on the PC. It uses USB-C to USB-A for high-speed transfer to ensure you never have to worry about a drop in quality. Best of all, it’s external and can be used on any USB device, meaning you can take it with you and record from the road when traveling.
